International Science Center and Science Museum Day in Vienna, Austria
On the occasion of the first International Science Center and Science Museum Day the Austrian ScienceCenter-Network prepared an outstanding all-day event taking place in the unique setting of the Natural History Museum Vienna.
School classes, students, families, and the wider public were invited to explore different aspects of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals while engaging in exciting hands-on activities. These could be practiced at thematic stations spread throughout the museum, each of them being dedicated to a particular SDG and facilitated by one of the Network’s partners.
“Around the World in 17 Goals” presents a unique cooperation, a joint project of various partners of the ScienceCenter-Network, among them science centers and museums, science communicators, and researchers, showing contribution and commitment to the SDGs in the Republic of Austria:

From the start, the ISCSMD has connected with the objectives of the triennial Science Centre World Summit because of its emphasis on the UN SDGs. The last summit took place in November 2017 in Tokyo and formalized the global commitment of the science center field to the achievement of the SDGs and to the ISCSMD as one of the instruments to do so, as explicitly expressed in the adopted Tokyo Protocol.
